Swimming!

We went swimming!

My kids have been begging me to go swimming since our neighborhood pool closed.
For some reason it took me forever to figure out that we should look at going to an indoor pool. Honestly, it wasn't my idea. A friend brought up the idea of going to a local community pool after my daughters asked if she could go swimming, AGAIN, in front of her. It was a genius idea.

Unfortunately, we suited up once before to find out there was a swim meet and we couldn't use the pool. I learned my lesson and called ahead the day of. We were good to go!

My kids were so excited they could hardly contain themselves. I didn't get a single picture of them looking at me. They would not take their eyes off the pool.

Baby girl cried when we started going to the lockers because she was positive I was taking her away from the "wader" in the window, where she was watching as I paid. But once we got in there she was happy as a clown. All she cared about was relaxing and floating around in her little life jacket. As long as nobody touched her she was happy (I was always nearby of course).

My kids were so happy they told me I was "the bestest mom in the whole wide world."
It's the little things in life that make kids happy 😂

So, if you have a nearby indoor pool or YMCA nearby go check them out!

Yeah for Friends and Birthdays!

We got our first birthday invite!

Well, the party was last week but they loved it.

We recently moved within the last few months. I was nervous about moving and our kids finding new friends. Every parent wants their child to do well and have have friends to play with. I'm really glad to see that they have been finding little friends nearby and at school.

K (our oldest daughter) made a friend with a girl that goes to both school and church with her. Her friend invited both my older 2 girls to her birthday party. It was super cute. My daughter picked out a gift for her and the girls could not stop talking about the party the whole week leading up to it. K picked  her outfit ahead of time and had to wear her purple flower hair clip. They were so excited!

They had a blast and now they are telling me about all the cool things they want to do for their birthday parties lol. Good thing I have a while because they think they are having quite the party of the year lol

Sunday Mornings

I am not a morning person. No one in our family is. We go to church at 9 am, which one might think shouldn't be too bad, but it is.

We get full blown tantrums, tears, breakdowns. EVERY SINGLE SUNDAY! I literally wrestle my children into their clothes as they scream "NO! I don't want to go!"

Don't worry, this isn't just happening on Sundays. This often happened on school days as well, but somehow Sundays just seems so much worse than the rest of the week.

There is a difference between getting your kids ready for school, and getting them ready for church. When we get ready for school I only need to get my kids ready, I may or may not have turned into the mother that drops her kids off in her pjs, but you will never know. The only witness is the kid who opens our door to let my kids out.

On weekdays it doesn't matter if my husband has slept past his alarm or is taking the longest shower ever, because he does his own thing. We don't have to share a ride.

I am not innocent either. For some reason Sundays seem so much harder to wake up for than any other day of the week.

We have tried to do things to make Sunday mornings easier. We do our Saturday night routine, make sure they are bathed, clothes picked out, everything is ready to go. Somehow it never works out. The outfit picked from the previous night just doesn't work for them the next day. All of a sudden they hate that dress, and they don't understand why they can't wear their Disney princess dress. (I've been tempted to let them, just so we are not late, but my husband stands firmer on this battle LOL)

Maybe I have high expectations. Thoughts of going to church, being on time with everyone fully dressed, having my kids sit quietly so my husband and I can listen to what is being said during the meeting. But that is not us. We are often in the hallway, multiple times during the meeting. Sometimes we just plan on sitting in the hallway because we know that's where we will eventually end up.

On top of all that it's hard to find motivation to get up and go to a new church because we moved and we don't know anyone. It doesn't help that the majority of people in our meeting time could be our grandparent. Moving is hard and my children miss their friends. I've made multiple attempts to create friendships, and invite people over, or go out (My kids and I are social people) but it's still doesn't feel like home yet. I'm sure it will just take some time.

Don't get me wrong, we don't go to church to socialize, but sometimes its nice to fit in and feel a part of church.

We really are blessed, we are grateful to be able to go to church and worship. We do feel better after going to church. It's the morning prep that get us.

Next year our church time will be 2 hours later. I'm VERY grateful for that.

Oh, and if anyone has some ideas or input on how to make Sunday mornings run smoother with kids, I am all ears!

family photos

I love getting our family photos taken! I get really into planning and coordinating outfits. I love getting our family photos back and choosing which ones to put on the walls. I'm actually running out of usable wall space. Not a bad problem to have in my opinion.
This fall I chose to go with a minty blue look as our main color and teamed it up with grey and white. I love how they turned out.

I always try to get a few main poses. Of course, I get a couple family poses so I have a few to pick from.

A couples photo. I didn't always used to do these, but I honestly think it is a must that is often left out.

A kids/sibling picture or two. I love having sister pictures of the girls to put on the wall!

And at least one individual of each kid. I love seeing the changes as they grow up.

And I like to use photographers that know how to work with children. because more than likely something will go wrong or someone will have a breakdown. Don't let this bottom picture fool you. Squeaks was flipping out so the photographer had me toss her in the air a few times and caught a 2 second smile on her in the middle of one of her 2 year old tantrums.

November is here!

Have you ever heard the saying that holidays are more fun when you are a parent. You get to watch the excitement vs being a kid and being excited your self. I would totally agree. Being a parent and helping create those exciting moments is far better!

We had so much fun at the local pumpkin patch playing just before Halloween. We played in the corn pits, raced petal cars, pet the animals,  rode on the tractor ride. You know, all that fun farm stuff.

We also had the best Halloween EVER last night! It was the warmest year we have had as parents, it didn't rain, no one cried. It was fantastic! The baby could walk and participate on her own and the older kids totally knew the routine! We thought we were going to be be without Daddy for trick or treating cuz he had a mandatory test in school (seriously what night class has a mandatory test on Halloween?! RUDE!!!) But he finished early and was able to meet us half way through our neighborhood. The baby waved to and said hi to just about every person that walked by, and she called bye at least 10 times to the person at the door as we left each house. The girls were excited and they had a blast.
(Don't worry they were layered in warmer clothes before we went out)

Part of me is a little sad that October is over but I'm looking forward to November. I feel like most people skip over November and go from Halloween to Christmas. I personally think November is a fantastic month. I love the idea of being thankful for what you have. I feel like it is the perfect month and attitude to prepare us for the Christmas Spirit.

I am so grateful for my family. I'm thankful I have a wonderful husband who works hard and provides for our family so that I can stay home with my littles and focus on them. I am thankful for my sweet little girls who fill my world with crazy pink chaos. I am thankful for a home of our own with a roof over our heads. I am thankful for a school where our children can learn and grow.  And I am thankful for a church where we can all learn, grow, and serve others.

We are so blessed, We may not have it all, but together we have everything we need.
